Having baby shower games to play at your events can be a terrific ice-breaker. This is particularly true if many of the guests don’t know each other very well. Games create involvement and elevate everyone’s mood. Do check with the mother-to-be about whether she wants games at her party — go by her preferences about having them. Let’s check out some new baby shower games to play at your upcoming event. Try to think of creative variations on some of these games — maybe you can even combine several ideas and make something totally unique the guests will love!

The trick bottle

This is a twist on an older game. It is great fun, for sure. Have about four baby bottles ready. Over-boil one of the four nipples so that its opening becomes sealed. Fill each bottle with the beverage you prefer — fruit juice, water, etc. At the shower, the guests stand around in a circle. Hand over the bottles to four guests and start the music. As long as the music is on, the guests keep passing the bottles around the circle. When the music stops, the four guests who are left holding the bottles must compete among themselves to find out who can finish drinking the beverage the fastest. If you haven’t seen it before, rest assured that watching four adults compete to drink from baby bottles is a fun sight! What is really, truly fun, however, is watching the guest who was unfortunate enough to get the sealed bottle! Enjoy her bewilderment and frustration as she tries to suck the liquid that refuses to come out!

Words from the wise

This is one of the truly hilarious baby shower games to play.

To start this game, give each guest a 3 X 5 card. Request each guest to think about one question about having a baby in the house. Have them write down this question on one side of the card. Next, collect all the cards from the guests. Shuffle the cards well. Hand out one card to each guest with the blank face up. Ask them to NOT look at the reverse of the card and write down the answer to the original question they had thought of. Take all the cards back and read out the question and answer on each card. This is seriously hilarious stuff! You’ll come across the weirdest, funniest question-answer combinations ever! Great for laughs!

Balloon burst

Some baby shower games to play are quite a blast! This is one such game. Have plenty of balloons ready. Write down baby names on small slips of paper and insert one paper slip into each balloon. At the party, request the expectant mother to reveal her favorite baby name. Each guest is now given a balloon (or more than one, depending on how many you have). The guests must now burst the balloons by sitting on them. Then they will read the baby name on the slip of paper inside the balloon. The guest who gets mommy-to-be’s favorite name wins the game! This is great for having a noisy, fun time!

Bottles fun for coed showers

Lots of showers have men these days. So it makes sense to have at least one or two games that appeal to men. Here’s one. Fill baby bottles with your fav beverage — fruit juice, aerated drinks or just plain water. The bottles should be of the same size and filled with the same quantity of beverage. Keep a stopwatch handy. Hand the filled bottles over to the men. At the sound of the starter gun (well, maybe you can just say “Your time starts NOW!”), the men start drinking the beverage from the bottles. The one who finishes first wins. One more thing — have some small prizes that are appropriate for men. Have some of these baby shower games to play at your next event. Your guests and the mom-to-be will love it.
